Not everyone cheats. I think you have to be careful about who you choose. I've been cheated on plenty. I've never cheated on anyone. Us "nice" people extend the benefit of the doubt too far sometimes. When it comes to relationships, we need to be more cautious or we will be taken advantage of. They feel secure that we will forgive them for cheating just like we do for everything else. But cheating is not ok. It's the #1 reason to end the relationship in my book. In a truly loving relationship we invest ourselves in so many ways. If they say they do the same, then they cheat, that isn't love. It's selfishly one sided of them, where we do all the giving and they do all the taking. You have to be critical in new relationships and ask the difficult questions about who they really are and what it means to them. Are they only saying what you want to hear? Who are they really? How do they treat others, not just you who they want something from?
