@AXES not entirely correct, according to my cursory research. In the case of worms: worms have 2 'brains', which is how they are able to survive a bisection. Octopi have 9, however, they have the amazing ability to 'edit' their RNA for adaptation purposes. This is not the same as retaining memories of thier ancestors, as romantic as that sounds.
