I wouldn't say it's completely impossible, but...
In terms of close friends,
Eventually one would start crushing or falling for the other, if not, their SO would eventually get jealous or so, that would make it hard to continue being friends.
Even if they stayed being friends, it wouldn't be that kind of natural way.

I agree with you!!!
I love making people fall for me, it kinda boost my ego and my confidence.
But usually I don't realize what I'm doing, until some of my friends told me that person is falling for me, or that person starts doing extraordinary things for me.
