Well how do you figure out if you're compatible with someone?

befriend that person, spend time with that person and know that person's story

Talking before dating.. safest way (imo)

Do you "know" it when you look them in the eyes for the first time? I sure don't.

@Leoweirdo trial and error.. like, select and throw? why not know that person first everything about that person then jump into something serious if it's smoothly compatible?

@cjko I read all of them. And I come to the conclusion that all of we are confused in words trying to talk about the same thing.

Yeah, maybe we have to define em. So how about the following proposal:

• physical chemistry: yes = you like each other's smell, no = you hate each other's smell
• lifestyle compatibility: yes = you're rich, she's rich, you like tennis, she likes tennis
• emotional compatibility: yes = you understand each other emotionally, or at least your feelings somehow align, no = you don't get the other's emotion
• intellectual compatiblity: yes = you understand each other on an intellectual level, you share insights and maybe viewpoints, no = you don't properly understand each other on an intellectual level, it is hard to share your insights with the other

This is exactly what I mean

I didn't say it was impossible... But tell me, do you have any experience supporting your view? Have you been together with someone with whom you were not physically compatible (who's smell you didn't like) ?

Nope. I haven't.. but having different emotional and intellectual compatibility make the rs impossible to withstand. Didn't meet halfway, one is always one leap downward to the other.

@petrapark3r that's true.. but aren't you aware that there are people who fell in love more if they are emotionally and intellectually compatible? Like you don't have to say something anymore, they will just know what's wrong through their intuition because they're deeply connected

@cjko Well all of this things, that you mention in the topic relates to love in some way. In other words, this things a some kind of building blocks for the relationships. And it is a responsibility of both of partners too keep the fire in house. (The fire can be read here as physical chemistry) Everything is flows from one to another. And if one of them, don't want to save the fire? Is it love after all?

Well,that's how you and @petrapark3r perceive about physical chemistry and how important it is, which is different in my views also. Why would one just base "fire" on that field? We all have different languages of love. It doesn't always have to be like what you think.

@cjko I totally understand you...that is why I mentioned that in the near future I'll surely look for a promised relationship and not just for fun's sake however thats situational. As for now I guess I'm not into the concept of dating for marriage. As for people who choose the no strings attached relationship for their future there's nothing too wrong with it...I totally support you in the fact that when one grows old they surely require a partner to spend their time with however not everyone looks for a promised relationship some people prefer to remain single throughout their lives cuz they find it more satisfactory. But yes when I age I wouldn't look for the no promises relationship.

Thank you. I understand your situation and maybe you're too young for that also.. Well, you have to be accountable at your own risk if you will jump into something unknown, it maybe look fun in your perspective and nothing will happen in the end but one thing is for sure , you have to be vigilant not to fall on trap. One philosopher said "it's better to be safe than sorry". Guard your heart, don't let anyone ruin it. :)

Definitely physical chemistry. Without it, relationships would be too boring. About the second one, it's a difficult choice between the lifestyle and emotional compatibles.. And I think emotional is more important, as if both of partners are on the same wave, they could handle with other things, by switching off all other incompatibilities.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.. well, in my view, it's not always the physical chemistry that matters. If there's love involved, I think it will fall last in the list.

@Anastasia-Smith well, it really depends on your preferences. When you get old or when you aged ,and sooo done with people's mind games, you will look for someone who is good for your soul and spirit. Spending time and investing anything fun on someone you didn't see any glimpse of future with , is a waste of time. (Imo)

Engaging in an open relationship or in a no strings attached rs oftentimes hurt the other person involved.. you don't want to end in that same cycle for too long, right? I didn't see any "fun" when there is "hurting".
