ADDICTION: a disease or a choice?
-
@Bonnibel It starts as a bunch of choices, conscious or not. And then gradually, the person might become so accustomed or so dependent that it becomes a disorder.
Personally, addiction better be called a disorder than a disease, though. -
@Bonnibel
smoke weed Everyday
🙏 -
@Bonnibel it's a disease!!
-
@GreyWind I've never heard it be categorized as a disorder before but I think that is actually a smart label :)
-
@Bonnibel
Helplessness and Loneliness lead To bad Choices Which turns into Addiction 🙁....
-
@Sam770 Yeah they typically originate from bad mental states :(
-
@Bonnibel Awww are you Addicted to something 🙁
-
@Bonnibel well I think once it becomes a habit, it'll be harder to break it down.
-
@Sam770 lmao no but I used to smoke weed and drink alcohol when I was feeling low 😂 I never let myself get addicted because I've seen what it can do to people :(
-
@GreyWind Yeah, which makes sense. Even something like coffee. People that drink coffee every morning cant go a day without it or they will start to actually experience withdrawals. It becomes a mental and physical challenge
-
@Bonnibel The boundaries seem to diminish where habits end and addiction starts or maybe they're the same thing. :)
Made me wonder when habit and addiction overlap and where they separate. lol, that made me make a different post after reading yours. 😅😄 -
@Bonnibel I was Addicted to painkillers....Now everything is good...bro,☺️
-
@Sam770 Glad to hear youre not addicted to them anymore! Congratulations !
-
@Bonnibel awwwwww thanks bro☺️☺️
-
A disease because I have got a addiction of mobile games and I cannot pass my day without playing it..
-
Choice is illusory
-
@Bonnibel 1000% not a choice. I have to work and fight every moment of every day to not give in to my sometimes debilitating urges and cravings
-
@Bonnibel if we continue in addiction, our end result is "jails, institutions, or death". we have to make the choice, continually make the choice, to stay sober/clean. if we don't, that's where we're headed
-
@linhaha it's a disease, we can try something once and be addicted. we don't choose to be addicted or somehow down the line, just suddenly become addicted. all it takes is trying something once
-
@Bonnibel "It starts as a bunch of choices, conscious or not"
see, I don't agree with that. yes we make the choice to do the thing for the first time. but so does everyone. the difference is in our brain, on whether or not we become addicted
