Religion was relevent when it was formed hundreds if not thousands of years ago. It was made for the people of that time where they couldn't explain natural phenomena in any other way or needed to give them basic definition of right and wrong. If you do wrong man in the sky will punish you. Priests also taught them basic hygiene, etc, etc. But the problem now is that people still desperately cling on to these outdated belief's and proceed to try and justify them in today's terms which is ridiculous. Religion only serves one purpose right now and that's dividing us in terms of religion. Boy and girl likes each other but girl says her family won't accept it because of the religious difference. Family kills daughter for having a relationship with a guy of another religion. You see where I'm going with this ?
