I rather be locked in a room that is constantly dark for a week.
Just because of the darkness, I'd do it.Dude stop pretending. You can't lock up ghosts :joy:

This could be revealing...
Boring part of the question: Do you do any sports? Do you guys work out? Are you fit?
(Still boring part) Or are you a couch potato?
Now for the second and interesting part: Why do you do the sport that you do or why are you a couch potato? What do you believe your choice of activity says about you?
Would you like to change it? If yes: why so?

RE: What’s one thing that bothers you most about the world today?
What bothers me most is that there is a bunch of powerful people in the west – and a lot of not so powerful people who scream very loudly and play right into their hands – who are trying to destroy the freedom and values our ancestors have left us. Of course all disguised as something good: tolerance, equality, fighting hate and so on...

RE: Pick two out of physical chemistry, lifestyle compatibility, emotional compatibility and intellectual compatibility.
I definitely think physical chemistry is immensely important, because it does, without fail, influence emotional compatibility. At least with a partner you're actually physically going to be with. So I guess I'd make the same choices as @spacegirl since i think those two are the ones that make relationships actually work out.

Clickbait OR how do you deal with replies?
If someone answers to your topics should you always upvote them? Do you read all replies? If someone agrees with you should you upvote their post? If someone starts to follow you should you follow them too? How much time do you spend on reading comments and replies?
In one phrase: What are the morals on a social network for you?

RE: Update: Spam Prevention

@pe7erpark3r said in Update: Spam Prevention:
Hmm, I don't really think so. Today you have email verification everywhere. It's standard procedure for every crappy forum, shop or even blog comments out there.
I understand, but dont we hate it.
Also, to say, 'every' would be too far-fetched, cause most of them dont.I haven't logged on to a single site where email verification wasn't required apart from TWS. So for me this was a first... So maybe you are talking local things (india)?
Also, forums are topic specific, so the people who are willing to go to a forum, have the incentive with them before hand to do all that!
whereas comparing shopping with this site, would be comparing apples with oranges.People are used to at least this step. And remember: not seeing spam, is inviting people to stay ;-).
Like i said, im not against this step, just giving a drawback which could happen.
Also, people are used to many things, but its not necessary, that those things are good, dont you agree?Yeah, wether people are used to something does not say anything about wether it's good or bad. But it says something about how strongly they'll feel it's an obstacle.
as for spamming, yes, it is a major issue. But, there are many more ways to limit them, like the anti-spam bot on discord, isp bans instead of ip bans for persistent users.
Discord also has email verification, but I'm not against having an AI recognize spammers on TWS either (not easy to code one though...). ISP bans are bad, because it means, that all the other users who use the same ISP are also blocked (numbering in the tens, hundreds or thousands). And there is nothing more unfair than being blocked for something someone else does. IP bans might have the same effect, but the impact is much smaller, so those are ok, but better implemented temporally.
So IMHO, email verification is definitely the spam protection with the best cost/benefit ratio.
And the big ones (google, facebook, twitter, microsoft, apple, and so on) even have phone number verification added on top. It's not going to keep new users away...
Like you said, they are the BIG ONES. Their name, is enough to give new users incentive to join.
So my argument, is not about the security check/email verification being right or wrong.
It is, whether, the new users will go that extra mile, just for a quick chat.Just wanted to show what people are used to, which means it's less of an issue for them on TWS either. But you are right, it is an issue for "one time users" of TWS.
The dang "Not a bot check" that always pops up when we just open the TWS page is much more annoying and definitely keeps users away, because it actually takes more time, than email verification (at least for me)... With email verification in place, TWS might move that barrier to other points (account creation or after posting too many things or something like that)

Maybe it's another kind of more regular data loss that happens with each TWS update :joy:

RE: Can you honestly be honest?
I have been honest to a fault in my life. Not open, but honest. Has been rather troublesome.
But then I learned, that it's not a lie if the other has no right to know the truth. That now is the definition I live by, and it's a good one.
Let's take the extreme example: Imagine you were hiding a jew in your basement and some Nazi came and asked if you are hiding any jews. You tell him no. He has no right to know that information, because he just wants to kill the jew. You did not do anything wrong. You did not even tell a lie. You just made a sound with your mouth, that corresponded to another sound that the Nazi made with his mouth (which also had no real meaning, because he is not after the truth), that's all.
Of course it is important to know who has a right to know. And you can easily use this definition as a means of lying to yourself. But that just makes 2 real lies than, and lies eventually turn your life into hell, bit by bit.

RE: white people can’t experience racism <3
@kaia_ said in white people can’t experience racism <3:
I think everyone can be racist, it's all a matter of who's the dominant ethnicity and culture in a community. People discriminate each other based on the perceived differences. So, the sooner we begin to see how much we are alike the better for us all, eventhough we had a completely different appearance, culture and ideology.
I don't think you need to be dominant to be racist. Racist is hating/judging others because of their skin color. Racist is treating someone differently, giving them less of a chance simply because of their skin color. Because of something they are not responsible for. Minorities can be quite racist. They just cannot start killing/hurting the majorities, cause that would be dangerous. It's only that their racism is being kept in check by the difference of power, it cannot act out... But it's there allright. Usually even felt much deeper by those who feel oppressed.
You can see this clearly with what happened in Rwanda. The Tutsi, who had been in power, but were not a majority, were hated by the Twa and Hutu, and millions where slaughtered.

RE: 13627438549650759648574635
The argument that certain children only listen to violence is easily defeated. It is in our nature to test our limits, it is part of growing up, part of maturing. If you set violence as that limit, you will produce children who only react to violence.
In todays times there are countless examples of people who have grown up without being beaten, and who have turned out to be amazing individuals. I think it is safe to say, that violence against children is certainly not necessary.
And let me remind you that beating up your children is only one form of violence. There are countless other forms of violent behaviour, of things that a child experiences as a violation. But we all do make mistakes. And children heal well. If you only are able to say "sorry" to them, and explain them, that what you did was wrong, they will forgive you. That's all it takes.

RE: Would you rather be smart but not too beautiful? Or beautiful but not too smart?
What most people don't realize when they read a question like that is that this is not about being superficial or not. Because wether you like someone for their looks or their brains, you like them for their body. Nobody made himself smart. You can only make yourself stupid. And people don't make themselves beautiful either (I find almost all results of cosmetic surgery downright ugly).
I would chose something entirely different: the ability to connect... What we need is neither beauty nor smarts, we need meaning in our lives... and these things cannot give meaning.
So that said, I believe it to be stupid, to deselect someone for their looks or their brains. All people are crazily interesting, if you only know how to listen. The criteria to chose the people around you should be: are they good for you or not. And then, if you became strong enough, you might try to help one or another of those who are "not good for you"...
But I most be honest too. I could not be with a girl I don't find attractive. I don't buy into beauty ideals though, I cannot really define what I find attractive, but I have found very very different women attractive in my life... The reason simply being, that she would see that in my eyes, and it would hurt the relationship. But thank god people are different and like different things, so that's not really a problem...

Do you believe...
After a real-life topic which gained little attention I thought we should try something philosophical what dou you guys think?
Do you believe in free will?
Simple right? Yet it ain't quite so simple. From the old greeks up until a few hundred years ago most philosophers believed that human beings are responsible for what they do, because they indeed have free will. However with the rise of the rationalism this trend really came to a close.
Some even say we are puppets of natural laws or brain chemistry. The world was compared to a giant machine, a clock, that just ticks away relentlessly and we – the little human robots living inside it – watching the spectacle as we were programmed by evolution.
In recent years however, through the discovery of the quantum world, at least random chance has made its way back into the world of human thought. But is random chance the same as free will?
What do you think?

RE: Love marriage or arranged?
Statistically, arranged marriages have a better chance of holding for life. Somehow people start to love each other often even though a marriage is arranged
Third option might be a mixture of those two. You might, if you get lucky, some day find someone who really feels like you are made for each other. Thats like "by destiny arranged marriage" plus love.
