As I hinted before I'm also not a fan of "laisser faire", of letting your children just do what they want, because then they cannot be disobedient, which they absolutely must be, to grow up.

I'm a friend of clear rules. There should be as little rules as required, but those that are required should definitely be there. And with all the rules in place, your child should always know what the consequences are. You should explain the rules as good as you can of course and the reasons for them, as much as the child can understand. This way it can feel safe and also learn to break a rule every now and then and live with the consequences.

You might have guessed what the important thing is: that nothing here is arbitrary. Heavier rulebreaking has heavier consequences (but never violence of any form). There is no reason for the child to feel violated. It just learns to deal with the world, it learns to deal with the consequences of its own actions and there is no better education than that.

I know that real science often gives us much more crazy things than science fiction might think up (white holes for example, which are basically the opposite of black holes where anything could come out, like unicorns or space whales).

But the truth is that any mathematical model is just that: a model. It doesn't describe reality fully, it just describes a certain phenomenon. Newtonian physics describes movement pretty well and is still used today, but under extreme conditions it doesn't work quite so well (close to the speed of light). Along came Einstein, who brought us a mathematical model that describes movement at the speed of light.

However if you compute the conditions with Einsteins formulas in a black hole you get infinite density. But there is (in all likelyhood) no such thing as infinite (density) in the real world. E.g. Einstein's model might simply be another edge case (like newtonian physics is for the einsteinian model) and we need a new theory all together which describes reality better.

The same goes for quantum physics btw.: Even though quantum theory is the most experimentally substantiated theory in the world quite a few physicists say that we probably need a new theory which might be able to actually explain quantum effects.

What I want to say is: just because the formulas say that two black holes could be connected does not mean that they actually can be connected in the real world.

There is one curious thing however in reality that is a bit time-traveley: There are some people who made quite accurate predicitions of the future (like the children of fatima who predicted events of the first and second world war with some accuracy). So let me make one (private) prediction for myself: on the 15th, 16th or 17th of June 2019 something fatefull will happen to me and to someone I really care about.

This subject is really crazy. I mean Gender-Studies. Did you know that almost all papers written in Gender Studies are cited 0 or 1 times? And citations do say something about quality. This means ppl spend months writing scientific papers which literally noone reads except them, their editor and their mother. Wether gender is a construct or real, I cannot understand why the universities spend millions and millions on stuff that literally noone cares about enough to read it. (Obviously I know people care about it alot, but only in the way, that they want to bash your head in if you don't agree)

Yeah, there are problems and we have to solve them. Overfishing is a big one. The oceans are actually the one place that we are fucking up most. But we can solve them. And here is the solution hidden btw. Once a country reaches a certain stage of development it starts caring. Especially the people who live in the big cities do. So. What we should do is speed up the under-developed countries to the point, where their cities start working for the environment and no longer against it.

We can fix our problems that we have created, we don't have to be doomed.
But in all honesty, I think we already are. I think were already on the path of doom but were walking at the beginning so we don't see the devastation we will arrive to at the end.

Yeah, path of doom. Agree. We are on that. In many different ways. But we're also working on leaving it. Many of us are.

We don't have to be doomed, but the likely hood of anyone giving a rats butt about our planet and the life on it to actually improve not just the life of humans but for all living things-our earth as well- is almost 0.

I have seen so amazing initiatives, movies, campaigns... 0 is definitely not the number I would have put there...

I'm pretty sure what I wrote up there might have made me fail too. Cause teachers these days can be quite ideologically posessed... The good teachers of course not... They are able to give you a good grade based on wether you can support your claims with arguments, even if they would disagree with your opinion...

Well then my guess would be, that the connection is related to your kid, since the kid feels the way the mother feels, and maybe has to do with your great worry wether it'll be okay...

Let's note too, that there might be things that have no scientific explanation (e.g. you cannot measure spirit, in case such a thing exists).

Take india for example. Today, virtually no child dies of hunger. This was by far not the case 20 years ago. We have made enormous progress. But. Not dying of hunger, and having the luxury of having time for other things than work during your days, are 2 different things. Point here is, that most of the people on the planet, do not have the luxury to worry about the planet. But as you can see, we are moving in the right direction. And the internet is reaching millions of new people every day. This is why I said we have to push developing countries over the limit, where they can and will start worrying about the planet. And we are getting there. It feels really close. Well, in global society "close" sense, e.g. the next 50 years, we might already see big changes.
