Only four reasons? I could rattle off a dozen positive points in favour of adoption without trying, but I reckon it's safe to assume you're approaching this topic from another place of preaching and inflexibility where you won't even consider anybody's position that doesn't fit with your own.

And in the case of drugs, what is permitted/legal can change simply by stepping over the border of a country or a state line. How do you explain that? Are some drugs good and okay for you in some places, but an arm's length away they lose their positive effects (and vice versa)?

@tm Tell that to Willie Nelson, Keith Richards, Toots Hibbert (before he passed away ❤) or any one of a multitude of others who've lived full, long, happy healthy lives.

Seriously dude, I've got one mate who is in his EIGHTIES. He used to run a gym, is by far the biggest pothead anybody in our circle of friends knows (he used to be a roadie for The Doors, capiche?), has proudly taken it every day of his life since he was in his teens, and no word of an exaggeration is fitter and healthier than most people half his age.

The difference between him and many others is that he is careful about what he uses, and how he uses it. He is fastidious about the source as well as the ingestion method. He's informed, he's aware of the health benefits, he uses them to his advantage and sure as hell enjoys them too.

Preaching blanket misinformation the way you do might come from a place of wanting to do good (like young misguided missionaries who knock on people's doors uninvited) but honestly just makes you look like a dick - which I say not to be insulting but in case you aren't aware and need some directness. My prescription is to go and watch some Bill Hicks, ideally Revelations.

I hear you, and will say I have never understood why so many folk here insist on leaving these epic goodbye posts, other than to give their own egos a rub. A lot of site users don't have a clue who some of these people are, a lot of the ones who do couldn't care much less anyway, and often enough once they've had their fix of attention they come straight back anyway (or don't even leave at all 🤦‍♂️). Of all the online communities I've seen, this is the only one where I've noticed this phenomenon... like, whomever it is if you're going to f**k off, just go already 😂🤷‍♂️

I get it, haven't experienced lasting platonic friendships with the opposite sex. You haven't seen (or just don't recognise) it amongst the people you know. You really aren't alone, sad to say there are a great many people who aren't capable of seeing that we have more in common than that which makes us different, reducing people to their gender has been a flaw of much of civilisation since long before either of us was born.

But don't dare presume to speak on behalf of me and other men that we view girls/women that way and automatically want sex with them, you don't know me and you don't know all men. If you want to try telling everybody here that the women I'm platonic friends with (for over a quarter of a century in some cases) are suddenly going to "leave if I don't give them romantic love and sex" or that I can't make new platonic friendships which last as long, more fool you. It's pitiable and frankly insulting to all. I'm not trying to be a dick (it comes naturally when I read stuff like this 😉), you are however WRONG - open your mind?
