You asked that question badly, anyone would save the 12 people. The proper question would be 3 (random number) people with families on one track and 6(random higher number) homeless people without families. Would you rather save the homeless people with no family and make the other people's families feel a lot of pain or save the ones with families so that nobody would grieve the homeless people?

I don't know, I'd probably talk to the people I care about the most. Even if they're very few, they've always managed to make me happy and give me a reason to live.
