@linear have them fly over, burn the passports and go on a mongolia roadtrip by horse to siberia. When you arrived in siberia build a settlement eat the horses, fuck your friends in the ass and live happily ever after.
Russian church leader says calls to turn Hagia Sophia into mosque threaten Christianity
-
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has proposed restoring the mosque status of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, an ancient building at the heart of both the Christian Byzantine and Muslim Ottoman empires and now one of Turkey’s most visited monuments.
The proposal has been criticised by several religious and political leaders, including the Istanbul-based Ecumenical Patriarch, spirtual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians, as well as Greece, France and the United States.
“A threat against Hagia Sophia is a threat to all of Christian civilization, meaning (a threat to) our spirituality and history,” Patriarch Kirill said in a statement.

Hagia Sophia is an amazing beauty that contains Christian and Islamic religious art. The conquest history.. It can't be privileged to one culture or religion alone. The gov of Turkey ought to decide wisely, it’s just a mesmerizing museum and it should stay the way it is.
-
@Vicious-Retard The issue as I have read and understood, it comes from the complicated history of the Hagia Sophia. Yes, originally it was an Orthodox Church. Then it converted into a mosque when the Ottoman Turks conquered the Roman capital Constantinople. Then it turned into a museum at the beginning of Turkish Republic. So, Hagia Sophia was already a mosque for hundreds of years before it turned into a museum, it's nothing new..
My opinion, by having the Hagia Sophia as a museum it allowed the building to be a place of gathering and reflection for Greeks and Turks, Orthodox Christians and Muslims. Converting this ancient building into a mosque (again) is felt as a risk that could caused mistrust between these different groups who already have a very long and tumultuous history with each other -
goodnight

@Vicious-Retard Goodnight, Cornholio!

@pe7erpark3r I can only wonder how Google handles these various political disputes with so many difference of opinion around the world. To cultivate peace, I think they need to find a way to please each country :D
-
@kaia_ I think it ought to be returned to the Christians
-
@Vicious-Retard Maybe. I’m not Turkish. It’s difficult for foreigners to understand the scale of Turkey, and how their economic, social and political system work. I admire Hagia Sophia to some exent.
-
@kaia_ Also Turkey is pushing for war with Cyprus and Greece with maritime borders and drilling. The EU, Russia, Egypt, The US and a host of other nations have voiced their opposition. This was actually predicted by St. Paisios. He said it would lead to the destruction of Turkey.
-
@Vicious-Retard The long disputed country of Turkey and Greece. I guess it’s time to open the map, compare the parallel line, and recognize the International Law. Both countries have been in bad terms for many years. Hope they will calm down. I cant imagine a world where countries could actually move..
-
@Vicious-Retard I don't care about these issues. But it is more of a cultural and political issue...a matter of heritage, pride and dominance and not exactly a religious issue.
Surveys reveal that most Russians say that religion is not important to them i.e. they are secular. A significant minority of Turks say the same:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Importance_of_religion_by_countryHowever Eastern orthodox Christians are much more religious than Western "Christians". The most religious Christians come from poor countries,Africa,Latin America and the Eastern World.
'When we conquer Constantinople we will return Hagia Sophia to the "Christian" World',this Islamic scholar says.

They simply draw both not yet acknowledged borders :joy: It works well as long as the nations involved have no power and cannot do anything against google.
-
@pe7erpark3r I see... 😂 It might not appear the same, depends on where we're searching from
-
@kaia_ well some say it will remain it as a museum so it could remain to attract tourist ind turkey's economic times of crisis
